Prof. Dr. Islam Ullah Khan
Prof. Dr. Islam Ullah Khan is a distinguished academic with a career spanning four decades, dedicated to teaching, research, and leadership in higher education. His research expertise spans pharmaceutical analysis, organic synthesis, materials chemistry and engineering, in addition to a focus on metal-organic frameworks, X-ray crystallography, and oxidative stress evaluation. He has taught courses on the principles and techniques of analytical chemistry, with a particular focus on chromatographic, spectroscopic, and electroanalytic methods, to students at the BS, MS, and PhD levels. Prof. Khan's academic experience includes serving as a Tenured Professor of Chemistry and Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology at Government College University Lahore for around 25 years, and as a Professor of Chemistry and Dean of Sciences at the University of Sialkot for a year, which gave him the opportunity to understand the educational background of the students, their career inspirations, and the skills required to prepare them for research-oriented careers at national and international levels, as well as entrepreneurial ventures. As a Professor of Chemistry in Sialkot, a city renowned for its entrepreneurial spirit, Prof. Khan recognized the need to equip students with professional skills that would enable them to become successful entrepreneurs and innovators, capable of competing at both national and international levels.
Prof. Khan has made significant contributions to research, with over 300 publications in international journals, more than 4,000 citations, an H-index of 31, an i10-index of 120, and a total impact factor of over 250. He has supervised the research work of 16 PhD scholars and guided over 120 students in their MS and MPhil research projects. His research expertise has earned him numerous awards and recognitions, including the Best University Teacher Award granted by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, awards from the Government of Japan for his postdoctoral research at their universities, and Research Productivity Awards in the "A" Category on multiple occasions from the Pakistan Council of Science and Technology (PCST), Ministry of Science and Technology, Islamabad. As an administrator, Prof. Khan has played a pivotal role in establishing and shaping two universities in Southern Punjab, serving as their Founding Vice Chancellor. He has also been an active member of various committees of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, contributing to the development of higher education policies and initiatives across the country.
